CPV Multiservices - Houston, Texas

Service guide

Translations, notary services and immigration forms in Houston, in plain words

No jargon here. Choose what you need: a certified translation, a notary service, an immigration form or another paper. Every service is explained the way we would explain it at the office: what it is, an example of what it is for, what CPV charges, and what to bring. In English or Spanish, by appointment in Houston; forms and translations can also be handled remotely. USCIS forms are federal, so it makes no difference which state you live in.

We are not attorneys. We type and translate paperwork; we do not give legal advice. Read the full notice

What we do with you

We translate your document from Spanish into English and deliver it with the signed certification USCIS asks for.

Birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce decrees, criminal records: we translate the whole document and deliver it with a signed certificate of accuracy, as USCIS requires. The price is $25 per page; we confirm the total from the number of pages before we start.

For example

Your birth certificate is in Spanish and you will file it with a family petition. You send us a clear photo of each page and tell us how each name is spelled in your passport. You receive the translation with its signed certificate.

What to bring to the appointment

  • The document itself, or a clear photograph of every page, front and back
  • The exact spelling of every name, as written in the passport or ID that will be filed with it
  • The name of the office or organization that will receive the translation
  • Any written instruction that office gave you about translations

Bring what you already have. The list helps prepare the appointment; it does not determine your eligibility.

Immigration forms

Price on request

We type, with you, the USCIS forms you or your attorney have already chosen.

Prices are CPV fees. Government fees (USCIS) are separate and are paid directly to the government. You or your attorney choose the form; we fill it out with you. No filing guarantees a result: the decision is always up to USCIS. CPV does not file applications for you: you, or your attorney, file them.

What we do with you

The family petition is the first paper the government asks for when a citizen or a resident wants to petition for a relative.

If you are a citizen or a permanent resident and want to petition for a close relative, the form for this process is the I-130. Who can petition for whom depends on each case, and that is for you or your attorney to confirm. We fill out the form with you, read your certificates together and put together the proof that you are family. One petition per relative.

For example

You are a citizen and want to petition for your mother, who lives in Honduras. You bring your birth certificate, your mother's birth certificate and your proof of citizenship. You leave with the I-130 completed, reviewed, and a list of what is still missing.

What to bring to the appointment

  • Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative)
  • Proof of the family relationship
  • Birth certificates
  • Marriage certificates
  • Petitioner’s proof of citizenship or residence
  • Financial support documents

For example

You have had your green card for years and want to become a citizen. You bring your resident card, your passport with your travel stamps and your work details for the last few years. You leave with the N-400 completed and reviewed.

What to bring to the appointment

For example

What we do with you

We read what you received with you and tell you what it says, in your language.

You received a letter, a notice or a form and do not know what they are asking for. We sit down with you, read it, translate it and tell you, word for word, what the document says. What we do not do is tell you which immigration path to follow: that is legal advice, and for that you need an attorney.

For example

You received an envelope from USCIS with a Form I-797 and do not know whether it is an approval, an appointment or a request for more documents. We read it together and tell you exactly what it is.

What to bring to the appointment

  • Any immigration documents you already have
  • Identification documents
  • A list of your questions or concerns

Bring what you already have. The list helps prepare the appointment; it does not determine your eligibility.

Typing and Translation of Forms

What we do with you

We fill out the form you already have with you, and translate or organize the papers that go with it.

You already know which form you need, because you or your attorney chose it, and you just want it done right: no typos, no blank boxes. We type it up with you, in the language of the form, and put together the list of what has to be attached.

For example

Your attorney gave you a list of documents to gather and a form to fill out before the next appointment. We fill it out together and organize the folder in the order the list asks for.

What to bring to the appointment

  • The requirements of the specific form
  • Supporting documentation
  • Identification documents
  • Previous immigration records

Bring what you already have. The list helps prepare the appointment; it does not determine your eligibility.

Papers and requests

FOIA Petition

USCIS fees are separate

What we do with you

A FOIA request asks the government for a copy of your own immigration file.

If you do not know what the government has in your file, or your attorney asked for it, we type the FOIA request with you: we identify which agency holds your documents (USCIS, ICE or CBP), fill out the form and leave it ready to send.

For example

You entered the country years ago and do not remember what papers you signed at the border. With a FOIA request you ask for a copy of everything the government has in your name.

What to bring to the appointment

  • Government-issued ID
  • Alien Registration Number (if available)
  • Previous addresses and travel history
  • Signed authorization form
  • The specific records being requested

Bring what you already have. The list helps prepare the appointment; it does not determine your eligibility.

USCIS fees are separate

You can submit your USCIS change of address yourself online for free. Our fee is solely the charge for CPV’s clerical assistance; it is not a USCIS filing fee. Submit your change of address directly to USCIS

What we do with you

Every time you move, the government asks you to report your new address with Form AR-11. You can do it online for free.

Reporting a change of address to USCIS is free and you can do it yourself online. If you would rather do it together at the office, we fill it out with you for a small fee we tell you beforehand: that is the only charge, it is CPV's and not the government's.

For example

You moved to a new apartment and have an open case. If USCIS mails a letter to the old address, you may lose it. You bring your receipt number and your new address.

What to bring to the appointment

  • New address information
  • Current immigration status documents
  • USCIS online account access
  • Receipt numbers for pending applications

Bring what you already have. The list helps prepare the appointment; it does not determine your eligibility.

Fee Waiver Request

CPV fee

Price on request

Confirmed with you before we start

USCIS fees are separate

What we do with you

With Form I-912 you ask USCIS to waive the filing fee. USCIS decides whether to grant it.

If paying the fee is out of reach, there is a waiver request. We fill out the I-912 with you and organize the proof of your income. Who qualifies is decided by USCIS under its own rules; we do not determine it.

For example

You want to apply for citizenship, but the N-400 fee is more than you can pay right now. You bring your proof of income or benefits. We type the waiver request to send along with your application.

What to bring to the appointment

  • Form I-912
  • Proof of household income
  • Proof of a public benefit you receive, if any
  • Identification documents

Bring what you already have. The list helps prepare the appointment; it does not determine your eligibility.
