01

I am from a country with TPS

Temporary Protected Status, TPS, is requested or re-registered with Form I-821, usually together with the work permit (I-765).

What we do with you

If your country is on the TPS list and you or your attorney have decided to file, we fill out the forms with you and organize the proof of your identity and nationality. Which countries are on the list and until when is published only by USCIS.

For example

USCIS announced a new registration period for your country and you want to re-register. You bring your passport or birth certificate, your previous approval and your permit. You leave with the package ready.

You or your attorney have already selected TPS paperwork. You want help reading the instructions, entering your answers and organizing the documents, in English or Spanish.

04

What is included

  • We read the forms and the official notice with you and translate what they are asking for.
  • We fill in Form I-821, and Form I-765 as well if you are requesting a work permit, from the information you give us.
  • We list the supporting documents the forms call for, including your proof of nationality and your photographs, and check that you have them.
  • We proofread the answers you provide and check the packet for clerical completeness.
  • We assemble it in order and give you a complete copy.

05

What is not included

  • Any fee USCIS charges is not included. Government fees are set by the government, and current amounts are published at uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees.
  • Filing. We do not file your application for you: you, or your attorney, file it.
  • We do not give legal advice and we do not represent you before USCIS or in any court.
  • We do not determine whether you qualify, whether your country is designated, or which registration window applies to you. Those are published by USCIS at uscis.gov/TPS.
  • We do not decide what happens to your case. That decision belongs to USCIS.

06

Documents to bring

  • Form I-821
  • Identification documents
  • Proof of nationality
  • Two passport-style photos

Bring the documents you already have. This is a preparation checklist, not a determination of eligibility or an exhaustive list of filing requirements. Follow the current official instructions for the form you or your attorney selected.

How TPS paperwork goes at CPV Multiservices

  1. You bring your documents

Your identification, your proof of nationality, your photographs, and any previous TPS paperwork you have kept.

  2. We read them with you

We translate what your documents and your notices say, and write onto Form I-821 exactly the information you give us.

  3. We add the work permit request if you want one

If you are also requesting a work permit, Form I-765 is typed alongside, so the two go out together.

  4. We check, assemble, and you keep a copy

We compare what the forms call for against what you brought, assemble the packet in order, and give you a complete copy.

Questions we get about TPS

Is my country designated right now?

Designations are made by the U.S. government and announced by USCIS, and they change over time, along with the registration and re-registration windows that go with them. Check the official page at uscis.gov/TPS rather than assuming, and rather than relying on what you hear from other people. We do not make that determination.

What do I bring to the appointment?

Your identification documents, your proof of nationality, two passport-style photographs, and any TPS paperwork or USCIS notice you have kept. Bring the documents you are unsure about too.

Can you handle a filing that is outside the window?

No. A late filing, and the question of which deadline applies to you, are legal territory. Consult a licensed immigration attorney, whom you can find through the American Immigration Lawyers Association at ailalawyer.com.
